Digital Reading Experiences

“A virtuous example of how digital technology can serve as a vehicle for belonging and opportunity for all.”

“A solid and inclusive digital platform that extends the life of picture books through seamless interactivity and high-quality audio and visual content. Its commitment to supporting minority languages – including Sami – and to ensuring equal access to culture for immigrant populations makes it a tool of extraordinary social relevance.”

Why a publisher wants this

Your books, where the next readers already are.

Your back catalogue, alive again.

A title that has left the shops can find readers again, with no print run, no warehouse and no shipping.

Data you can use.

See which books are opened and in which languages. Data is there as an extra, if you want it.

Digital, without the development.

You go digital without having to develop or maintain anything yourself. Apps, stores and updates are ours.

Customisable.

It becomes what you want it to be: your name, your look, your books.

Languages, as many as you want.

Add the languages you choose, side by side in one library. Digi-Etana has eight.

You start us up, we deliver.

You start us up and we deliver with you, with you as little or as much in the loop as you wish.

And for the children?

The question is what is on the screen, and who sits alongside.

Research reviews find that music, sound and animation matched to the story can help young children understand it, while games and other extras distract. An adult reading along still matters more than any added effect, and the guidance on screen time for the youngest still stands.

That is the line we work along: music, voice, sound and gentle animations that fit the story, with the book at the centre.

What it is

One publisher.
Eight languages.

Digi-Etana carries Etana Editions’ picture books in Finnish, Swedish, Northern Sámi, Estonian, Somali, Russian, English and Arabic. The printed book stays the anchor of the story.

The books carry their own music, sound effects and professionally recorded narration, and many are also animated or interactive. Children can read with sound on or off.

Etana Editions owns it and shapes it. We built it with them, and we run it. Under a separate licence, the same books can also travel internationally on PIBOCO.

PIBOCO
