Learning games LUCUS
Assistens
A location-based educational game for Assistens Kirkegård in Copenhagen. Kulturcentret ASSISTENS developed the content; LUCUS designed and built the app.
What
An educational game where you explore Assistens Kirkegård alone or in groups. By visiting the graves of important historical figures you collect cards and learn about Danish and world history. The figures are divided into the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.
Through this treasure hunt you learn about Danish and world history, with a particular focus on the themes of Danishness, democracy and revolution.
How
With an iPad in hand and the app downloaded, you are set for about an hour of fun teaching and learning in the beautiful cemetery. It is a perfect activity for families visiting Assistens Kirkegård.
The game combines togetherness, being outdoors and a Pokémon Go-style treasure hunt with historical storytelling.
Background
Together with LUCUS, Kulturcentret ASSISTENS developed an app that gathers the many digital threads the centre – with support from Nordea-fonden – has drawn across the cemetery in recent years.
